Fast Lane to Career Literacy Webinar Recap
Learn how a mobile classroom is bringing immersive career exploration to rural schools across North Dakota's Region III in this webinar recap.
Pardon our dust, we’re making CareerViewXR even better!
At CareerViewXR, our goal is to help every student and adult career seeker explore careers in a way that feels engaging, approachable, and accessible, regardless of their background, abilities, or preferred device.
As we’ve continued growing the platform alongside feedback from educators, learners, and partners across the US and beyond, we have identified opportunities to make our web-based experiences even easier to navigate and use. That feedback helped shape the creation of our updated web-based user interface (UI), designed to better support the needs of our diverse user base.
We believe accessibility improvements don’t just support one type of learner, they create better experiences for everyone.
We also recognize that immersive technology comes with unique accessibility considerations. Some users with vertigo, motion sensitivity, sensory aversions, and other concerns may find virtual reality content difficult or uncomfortable to use.
This is why CareerViewXR has always created field trips available in a web-based format, in addition to our optional VR videos. These web-based experiences can be used across a wide range of devices, including phones, tablets, computers, and smart boards.
Across the Extended Reality (XR) industry, there are still no universally adopted accessibility standards for WebXR and virtual reality experiences. Several organizations and industry groups are actively working to establish guidelines and best practices, and our team continues to stay engaged in many of those conversations. You can learn more about our involvement on our Accessibility page.
While the technology continues to evolve, our team remains committed to improving how learners interact with CareerViewXR and expanding access to immersive career exploration.
We’re excited for you to see the improvements in this updated web-based field UI layout. New accessibility-focused features include:
Improved keyboard navigation for easier movement throughout experiences
Collapsible menu elements to reduce visual clutter and simplify navigation
A hotspot list for each scene, allowing users to quickly locate all interactive elements within each scene
These updates build upon accessibility features already available throughout CareerViewXR’s web-based field trips, including captions within videos, audio and text-based hotspot information, and content warnings for experiences that may contain potentially sensitive material.
Visit our Accessibility page for more information about current accessibility features, keyboard navigation instructions, future roadmap plans, and more.
By the time you read this, you may already see field trips featuring the updated interface in our library.
As a small startup team, these UI updates won’t happen overnight. All new CareerViewXR experiences moving forward will utilize the refreshed layout, while existing experiences will gradually transition to the new interface over the summer break.
No action is required from subscribers, educators, or learners. There will be no service interruption during this transition; users may simply notice the library includes a mix of old and new layouts for a short period of time.
A new demo video is also currently in the works to help users with the transition. Our goal is to have all field trips using the updated interface by August, 2026 – just in time for the new school year.
Accessibility isn’t something you can finish up and set aside. Technology changes and learner needs evolve, and best practices continue to improve.
That’s why CareerViewXR continues collaborating with accessibility-focused organizations and national projects to help shape better immersive learning experiences for the future. This updated interface is one step in our larger mission to make immersive career exploration easier to access and navigate for learners around the globe.
If you have feedback about the updated interface or encounter an issue while using CareerViewXR, we encourage you to reach out to our team at support@careerviewxr.com or through our Support Ticket form. Your input helps us continue improving the platform for all.
